Tools

We’ve developed an array of tools to help organizations and communities cope with change, adjust their sources of support, and plan for the future.

These include:

  • In-depth research: The founders of Nonprofit Pivot spent decades as journalists with some of the best news organizations in the country. We know how to clear away the bramble and get to the “nut graf” – the heart of the issue. We do this through interviewing, data collection and analysis, and experience as born-and-bred Upstaters. Timely results are spelled out not in bureaucratic gobbledygook, but in plain English, fact-based and easily understandable. And most important, useable.
  • Databases: We’ve assembled searchable databases of Upstate grants, grantors and grant recipients. The data is searchable – and mappable – by area of interest and geography. We also have assembled an Upstate directory of influence with board members, business and civic leaders, and political donors.
  • Relationship mapping: Whom do you know and whom do they know? You’ll be surprised at the number of connections you already have to untapped donors and grantmakers.
  • Sims: Our data-driven simulators focus on issues such as population growth, housing and remote workers. A few sims are available for free on our site; others are tailored to clients’ needs.
  • Interactive graphics: A picture, as they say, can tell a story that long, windy paragraphs cannot. We use Tableau to build interactive visualizations of data, ideally suited for board use, plans, reports, and web site display.
  • Pattern spotting: With the help of AI, we monitor new data, government announcements and news coverage to spot patterns that may affect your activities and your sources of support. We enable organizations, government boards and communities to prepare for change, rather than merely react to it.
